Co-President, Rutgers Chapter, Society for Human Resource Management (RU SHRM)

The Rutgers MHRM program is clearly one of the top programs in the world, and the benefits to joining this program are immense. These include: international exposure, networking with top HR professionals, learning from top HR researchers and getting a global perspective of the HR profession. In fact, when some of my HR colleagues outside of Rutgers talk to me about HR researchers like Mark Huselid and his cutting-edge HR Scorecard research, I have the privilege of saying that “these researchers are actually my professors!”

The Rutgers MHRM program is also very unique in its strong strategic focus. Our MHRM professors understand that the only way for HR professionals to “get a seat at the table” is for us to show a thorough understanding of the business and actively contribute towards value creation in the organization. In order to achieve this goal, the very holistic Rutgers curriculum covers more than mainstream HR subjects such as Compensation, Staffing and Training and Development. It also exposes us to HR strategy, corporate governance, employment law and financial decisions.

Another great benefit of the Rutgers MHRM program is its amazing cultural diversity. We have students from all around the world in our program, giving us the opportunity to learn to work collaboratively with people from diverse cultures. In today’s global world, this is an extremely important skill, and the multicultural experience at Rutgers gives us all a head start before we jump into the global workforce.
